Thumbs up to Andrea Rosen Gallery’s summer exhibiton featuring the work of Lizzi Bougatsos, Michael DeLucia, Lizzie Fitch, David Gilbert, Robert Overby, and Andra Ursuta. The gallery states clearly in the press release that the purpose of the show is to highlight artists they find “particularly compelling” and I give them kudos for coming up with a group whose juxtapositions in material and scale I agree actually are particularly compelling. Highlights include Michael De Lucia’s painted and carved plywood sculptures, David Gilbert’s large-scale photographs and Lizzie Fitch’s wall-bound constructions.
